Ashton Torgerson’s 11th Place Prelim Finish Leads to 11th Place Finish in Chili Bowl C Main

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, OK fresh off his first career Tulsa Shootout win, Ashton Torgerson teamed up with Mounce/Stout Motorsports for the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals where his 11th place finish during the feature event on his prelim night, led to an 11th place finish in the Saturday night ‘C’ Main.

Hitting the dirt on Thursday night looking to set himself up in a prime position for Saturday’s finale, Torgerson lined the Mounce/Stout Motorsports No. 02 up on the front row of his heat race.

Settling into second when the race went green, Torgerson battled hard with eventual winner, Andrew Deal before settling for a second place finish.

Moving into a qualifier race, the Glendale, AZ driver lined up on the pole looking for a win to add to his point total. Battling with veteran racer CJ Leary, Torgerson ran hard in second as he chased after the USAC National series regular.

Finishing second, Torgerson ended up 13th in nightly points which was good enough to lock him directly into the 30-lap Thursday night feature event where he took the green flag from the seventh row.

From his 13th starting position, Torgerson went to work on the tight confines of the Tulsa Expo Raceway as he was able to jump into 12th in the opening stanzas of the race. Spending much of the feature running in 12th,  Torgerson did slip back to 13th on the 20th circuit, but was able to throw a couple of counter punches as he powered into 11th with four to go.

Jockeying for the 11th position over the final three laps, Torgerson was able to win the battle, finish 11th, and lock into the Saturday night ‘C’ Main.

Heading into Saturday night, Torgerson hit the track in the early evening as he was in the sixth row for ‘C’ Main No. 1 as he had hopes of working through some of the famed ‘alphabet soup’ to earn a berth in the 55-lap feature event.

In the star studded ‘C’, Torgerson got off to a quick start as he jumped into ninth on the race’s opening lap but was back to 11th at the halfway point. Searching the Tulsa Expo Raceway trying to find a line to make up some ground late in the race, Torgerson went on to cap night off with an 11th place finish in the ‘C’.
