PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals for the first time since the 2022 edition, Austin Torgerson teamed up with Mounce/Stout Motorsports and made a little run through the Saturday morning alphabet at the star-studded event.
Kicking is week off on Monday night for preliminary night action, Torgerson lined up in the third row of his heat race aboard the Mounce/Stout Motorsports No. 88 entry.
From the fifth starting position, Torgerson battled hard as he adapted to a midget and with his seventh-place finish, he moved into one of Monday’s twin ‘C’ Main events.
Taking the green flag from his fourth row starting position in the ‘C’, Torgerson made some nice moves early as he was up and battling for a potential transfer position in the first few laps.
Battling for third on the fifth lap, close quarters racing led to contact with Torgerson taking most of the impact and severe front end damage brought his night to an end.
Set for an early start on Saturday, Torgerson was focused on making a run through some of the early alphabet, and he did just that.
With his finale kicking off in the “O” Main, Torgerson lined up in the fifth starting position and was able to work his way up to a second place finish and transfer into the ‘N’.
Lining up 10th, Torgerson continued to gain comfort and confidence in his Mounce/Stout Motorsports prepared midget as he carved his way forward to a fourth-place finish and moved into the ‘M’.
Mired at the back of the pack and in 12th, Torgerson again put on a nice charge through the field as he fought to keep his event alive. Picking up a sixth place finish, he successfully moved into his fourth race of the day as he lined up 16th in the ‘L’.
With the track changing drastically for the ‘L’ Torgerson still have it his all as he raced his way up to 10th in the closing laps. However, issues did arise that brough his race to an early end, as he capped his Chili Bowl off in the ‘L’.
ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will be idle the next month before returning to action Feb 15-17 at Adobe Mountain Speedway.
