PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to hone his craft and learn in a winged 360ci sprint car, Austin Torgerson was back in action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night where he picked up a 16th place finish during the NorCal Posse Shootout.
Taking part in the track’s final 360ci event of the 2023 season, the Glendale, AZ runner got his night started by timing the Torgerson Racing/Safety-Kleen backed No. 88 in 18th fastest amongst the 29 drivers checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, points were the name of the game during this event, and it was vital to get a good start. On a heavy and rough surface largely in part to weather that was in the area, Torgerson got the jump and never looked back.
Wrestling his entry around the Placerville Speedway bullring, Torgerson raced to the win and ultimately sat 11th in event points when heat races were complete and was solidly in the 30-lap feature event.
While track crew continued to massage the surface all night long to stay ahead of some of the rough patches that continued to build up, a smooth surface emerged for the feature event that offered up multiple lanes for racing action.
Taking on some of the best in the west on this night, Torgerson rolled off the grid from 11th, and got off to a little bit of a tough start as he slipped back in the early laps before finally settling in.
Falling back to 18th, Torgerson was patient and continued to gain seat time as he raced in heavy traffic. Getting back up to as high as 15th on a pair of occasions, Torgerson capped his night, and his season at Placerville Speedway with a 16thplace finish.
ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will be idle for a couple of weeks before returning to action 9/21-23 at Plaza Park Speedway.
